Kelly Mitchelmore BID, artist/designer

Born and raised in Nova Scotia I have a love for water and nature and making people happy with my art. I paint with both acrylic and oil and mostly use knives allowing my work to be heavily textured. Capturing the feel or the moment is always the focal of my paintings – trying to allow the viewer to be taken away in a memory or feeling. I believe that art is a many faceted thing both tangible and unreachable at the same time. It can be a simple print that made you smile or an incredible masterpiece that made you cry – it touches all of us differently. That’s the magic. I have a Bachelor of Interior Design which has helped me with colour theory and perspective when creating her pieces. I also served over 14 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, and my 10 years at sea with my time in the Navy has been a strong inspiration for painting water and poppies . I have recently moved from the East Coast to the West Coast and am really enjoying the Island life in Nanaimo. You can find my work at my website kellymitchelmore.ca

” I paint because I can’t imagine not painting. And if I am lucky enough to support myself while doing something I can’t imagine not doing – well that’s the dream right ? – thank you all for allowing me to become the artist I hope to be :)”
